Grande Champagne, Vintage 2000

The Domaine's first single-harvest release: cognac distilled from a single year's crop — the 2000 vintage — grown in Grande Champagne, Cognac's most celebrated cru, and matured in French oak for more than twenty years.

The Expression

A single vintage is the rarest form of candour in Cognac, where the blender's art usually smooths the years together. Here one harvest speaks alone: deep gold in the glass, with ripe stone fruits, exotic florals and delicate spice over a full, rounded texture, bottled at 44.8%.

It is the expression that anchors the revived house's claim to its terroir — estate fruit, the premier cru, one year, patiently kept.

Tasting Notes

One harvest, deep gold.

Deep gold in colour, opening on ripe stone fruits, exotic florals and delicate spice. The texture is full and rounded — a single year of Grande Champagne, matured more than two decades in French oak.

About the Marque

Sazerac de Forge & Fils

Bernard Sazerac de Forge founded his cognac house in 1782, in the golden age of the spirit. Its cognacs crossed the Atlantic to New Orleans, where they poured the drink that took the family's name — the Sazerac, among the first true American cocktails — and in time lent that name to the modern Sazerac Company itself. The house did not survive the century: when the phylloxera blight devastated the region's vines in the late 1800s, Sazerac de Forge fell silent.
